5-Minute Easy Popcorn Balls Recipe | Quick Sweet Snack Treat

Easy Popcorn Balls

Three ingredients, 5 minutes, and three easy steps – that’s all you need to make these easy, gooey, chewy popcorn balls. Say goodbye to your candy thermometer! Arrivederci, corn syrup. Smell ya later, elusive hard-ball stage! Your microwave is your new best friend. So pop some corn, grease up your hands, and let’s get ballin’.

Step 1: Ingredients

Are you ready for this list?

Ingredients

  1. Popcorn (1/2 cup kernels or one 3.5-ounce package plain microwave popcorn)
  2. Marshmallows (1 10-oz bag)
  3. Butter (1/4 cup)

Boom! You’re done.

Step 2: Mix It Up

  1. Pop your popcorn. I like to then either scoop or pour it out into a big bowl so I can get rid of the kernels and burned bits at the bottom. Popping my corn on the stove while microwaving the other ingredients cut my time down to a cool three minutes.
  2. Melt your butter in a large bowl in the microwave (took me about 50 seconds). Add marshmallows, and microwave for two minutes, stirring after one. (three minutes!)
  3. Fold popcorn into mixture and form into balls (ok, this can take a few extra minutes, but it’s crazy fun, so who cares!) I got twenty two 2″ balls from this. *tip: grease your hands well before forming popcorn balls, and be sure to get in between those fingers!

Bam! Done!

Step 3: Play With Your Balls

As you can see, I got a little crazy with my popcorn balls after the first half dozen. I added candy corn for some, m&ms for others. You can add anything you can think of. For my next batch, I think I’ll add a bag of Rolos with the marshmallow mixture before I add the popcorn. Buttery, chocolatey, caramel corn popcorn balls? Yes please!
